Small Business Manager, Program Manager, Sales and Marketing, Martial Arts Instructor April 2001 - April 2008

South Lake Karate Academy Minneola, FL, USA

  • I also taught karate and grew to love it as I learned how to manage large classes of children and adults who were all learning new physical abilities together. The best part was helping to instill self-discipline and and self-esteem in children and changing their lives for the better. They had to exhibit our core values in school and at home in order to promote, helping to build more productive members of our community.
  • For sales and marketing, the school was barely grossing $7,000/month before I took over this roll. After about a year, we were grossing over $20,000/month regularly and as high as $36,000 for our highest grossing month due to the new advertising and sales tactics I brought to the table just from reading books, attending video conference calls, and educating myself. The school flourished during my tenure there. Ex. cold calls, referral awards, bring a buddy nights, birthday parties, networked with parents who are business owners and came up with deals where we leave free class raffle boxes in their businesses and they get a cut from the new client we get from them.
  • As the program manager, I planned all logistics behind school break all day camp field trips, lunch schedules, and the day to day schedules of over 100 children. I also tended to the after school care of up to 100 children daily for 7 years with zero major incidents or safety violations.
  • Small business manager where I learned to book keep, cut payroll checks, create work schedules of 5 employees.
